Aparici Home Stories | The rustic elegance of Miriam Alegria in her centenary home

Welcome to a new edition of ‘APARICI HOME STORIES’, where we explore how Cerámicas Aparici tiles transform homes with style and personality. On this occasion, we take a look at the centenary house of Miriam Alegría @miriamalegria, a home located in the heart of the Murcian huerta that has been restored to recover its original essence, while at the same time giving it elegance and luminosity.

Illuminating history with Norway Oak

Every home has its own essence, its own history marked by light, materials and the lives of those who live in it. In the case of Miriam Alegría, her renovation project had a very clear objective: to respect the authenticity of this century-old house without sacrificing comfort and contemporary aesthetics.

To achieve this, Miriam opted for Norway Oak 16x100 cm wood-effect porcelain flooring, a key choice to restore warmth and clarity to her home. Its herringbone installation adds a touch of sophistication, highlighting the beauty of this historic home. As she herself tells us:

‘Bringing out the darkness was easy with the Norway wood effect porcelain floor by @ceramicas_aparici. the cleanest floor ever! 🥰 Of course, mounted on a herringbone to give elegance to this orchard house’.

The choice of a wood-effect porcelain tile such as Norway Oak is not only aesthetic but also functional. Its resistance to wear and tear, easy maintenance and versatility make it the perfect partner for a home with such character as this one. The result is a balance between rustic and modern, where light plays a leading role.

The charm of the bathrooms: Dstone Ash and Evoke White

In addition to the flooring, the bathrooms in the house have been tiled with Aparici products, combining materials that enhance the brightness and harmony of the space.

For the guest bathroom, Miriam opted for Dstone Ash Lekue Natural 50x100 cm, a porcelain tile that faithfully reproduces the texture of natural stone. Its timeless elegance is enhanced by a key detail in the design: the backlighting. This resource not only emphasises the texture of the material, but also creates a play of light and shadow that adds depth and a touch of sophistication to the space.

On the other hand, the main bathroom is tiled with Evoke White Natural 50x100 cm, a light-toned porcelain tile that amplifies the feeling of space and luminosity. Its subtle and elegant finish makes it an ideal choice for those seeking a minimalist and timeless design.

A conversation with Miriam Alegría

We talked to Miriam about her renovation process and the experience of integrating Cerámicas Aparici tiles in her home.

A floor that transforms spaces

Question: Miriam, what inspired you to choose the Norway Oak model for the floor of the whole house?

Miriam Alegría: From the very beginning, my idea was to maintain the essence of this orchard house, but without renouncing warmth and comfort. I wanted each room to transmit light and spaciousness, and Norway Oak was the ideal choice. I love its texture and the realism of its wood effect finish, but without the complications of maintaining natural wood. In addition, by mounting it in herringbone, we get a plus of elegance that fits perfectly with the style of the house.

The role of wall coverings in the renovation

Question: You used different Aparici collections for the bathrooms, how did they influence the atmosphere of each space?

Miriam Alegria: For the guest bathroom, I wanted something with character, and the Dstone Ash Lekue was perfect. Its natural stone finish gives that feeling of robustness and sophistication that we were looking for. In addition, the backlighting has been key to highlight its texture and give it a cosier feel.

On the other hand, for the main bathroom, we opted for Evoke White Natural, which is the opposite: luminosity, simplicity and an incredible effect of spaciousness. Its smooth finish and white tone make it a neutral base that combines with any decorative style. It is a bathroom that breathes calm and harmony.

Experience with Aparici

Question: How was the installation process and the experience with Aparici tiles?

Miriam Alegría: It has been a smooth and very satisfactory process. The quality of the tiles is noticeable from the very first moment, and that makes the installation much easier. Each piece fitted perfectly and the final finish is impeccable.

Impact on day-to-day life

Question: What impact have the tiles had on the functionality and aesthetics of the house?

Miriam Alegría: They have completely changed the feel of the house. Before it had a darker, more closed-in feel, and now the house is much brighter, cosier and easier to maintain. The Norway Oak flooring is super practical, easy to clean and brings an incredible warmth.

In the bathrooms, the result has been equally spectacular. The coverings not only beautify the space, but also make each bathroom more functional and durable.

Recommendations for Other Projects

Question: If you had to recommend Aparici products to someone who wants to renovate their home, what would you say?

Miriam Alegría: I would definitely recommend them. The quality, aesthetics and variety of designs mean that you will always find an option that suits your style. In my case, they have been key to achieving the balance between history and modernity in this very special house.

I already had the opportunity to work with Cerámicas Aparici in the restoration of La Casa Cueva in Murcia, a very different project to this one but with the same objective: to respect the essence of a home with history while providing it with materials that provide comfort and durability. The experience was so positive that I did not hesitate to trust again in their products for this new reform.
